How We Deliver SDA Homes

As a specialist builder of accessible homes for people living with disability, building an SDA home involves additional design standards, approvals and compliance requirements beyond a standard residential build. This includes accessible home design, mobility considerations, and practical living outcomes for people with disability.

Our team manages each stage carefully to ensure every home meets SDA requirements and is delivered with ‘As Built to SDA Compliance’ certification at handover.

Strategic Land Selection
With an experienced land acquisitions team, we help identify suitable blocks that align with SDA requirements, including accessibility, proximity to amenities and surrounding community facilities.
In-House Design Expertise
Our in-house drafting team is trained in SDA design requirements, giving you the option to select from our existing SDA compliant designs available to suit most blocks, or work with us to create a customised floor plan tailored to the participant’s needs.
Skilled Construction & Oversight
SDA builds require additional attention to detail. Our trades and site supervisors are trained to deliver homes in accordance with SDA standards, ensuring care, precision and compliance throughout construction.

Where do we Build?

Silkwood Homes NDIS House and Land packages are offered across South East Queensland, Northern Rivers and Newcastle. When building a new home it is very important to think about the location. Some things to consider are the size of the land, the neighbourhood and surrounds, accessibility and street frontage.

One of our NDIS Coordinators will discuss with you what your key priorities are for finding a House and Land package. Here are some of the key locations where we are currently building, with surrounding suburbs included (not specified on map). If you have a specific area in mind, please inquire today so we can assist you further.

Already have a block of land? That’s great! We can build on your land or ours. Silkwood Homes can offer you a House Only package to ensure we’re building the  home you want in the exact location you want.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support to people with permanent and significant disabilities.

Introduced in 2016 the NDIS was designed to assist the 14% (around 4.3 million) of Australians currently living with an extreme functional impairment and/or very high support needs.
